“Nursing is not merely a profession; it is a commitment to humanity, compassion and excellence in care.”

It gives me immense pleasure to write this message for the Government Nursing Colleges under the Public Health Department, Government of Maharashtra.

Nursing is the heart of a strong and responsive healthcare system. Nurses stand beside individuals and families at some of the most important moments of their lives—with knowledge, compassion, courage and dedication. As healthcare continues to evolve, the role of nurses is expanding beyond bedside care to leadership, education, research, public health, technology and policy.

Our Government Nursing Colleges are committed to nurturing competent, compassionate, ethical and confident nursing professionals who are prepared to meet the changing healthcare needs of our society. We strive to create an educational environment where students develop not only clinical competence, but also critical thinking, communication skills, leadership qualities, professional integrity and a strong sense of social responsibility.

We believe that quality nursing education is the foundation of quality healthcare. Therefore, our focus is on strengthening academic excellence, simulation and skills-based learning, clinical exposure, community engagement, evidence-based practice, research and continuous professional development. At the same time, we encourage our students to embrace appropriate digital technologies while preserving the most essential qualities of nursing—human connection, empathy, dignity and compassionate care.

To our nursing students, I would like to say:
Dream with purpose. Learn with curiosity. Serve with compassion. Lead with courage.

Every patient you care for is an opportunity to make a difference. Every skill you learn, every challenge you overcome and every act of kindness contributes to the nurse you are becoming. Your profession carries immense responsibility, but it also offers an extraordinary opportunity to serve humanity.

Let us work together to build a future where every nurse is skilled, respected, empowered and prepared to lead, and where every citizen receives safe, equitable and compassionate healthcare.

I invite students, faculty, healthcare professionals, alumni and all stakeholders to actively contribute to the continuous strengthening of nursing education and services in Maharashtra.

Together, let us transform nursing through knowledge, leadership, innovation and compassion.

With best wishes for your learning, growth and meaningful service to society.
